‘Futures of Technologies’ is the 25th international Futures Conference of Finland Futures Research Centre and Finland Futures Academy, University of Turku. This year we are excited to be able to organise this event together with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland – one of Europe’s leading research institutions advancing the utilisation and commercialisation of research and technology.
Futures Conference 2025 focuses on the futures of technologies, their development, importance, role and risks as a driver of social change. What are the effects of social and environmental changes on technological development and vice versa? We will focus on questions like how can organisations and societies proactively manage the dual role of technology both as a solution and a source of new societal dilemmas; how can AI and other technologies contribute in advancing the scientific discipline and innovative approaches to technology within futures studies and foresight; how to perceive and rethink the linkages between novel technologies and policy-making; and how to reconstruct innovation policies in an era of pervasive technological changes.

Call for Papers is now open
We invite researchers, scholars, practitioners, consultants and students to share their latest research results, findings and thoughts no later than 31 January 2025. The conference sessions will be categorised into two different lines: academia-oriented and practice-oriented presentations. Call for Papers.

Conference venue: Logomo, Turku
We will meet you in Logomo, a center for culture, art, and the creative economy. It is located in the former VR locomotive workshop near the railway station and the city center in Turku. Logomo hosts concerts, meetings, seminars, conferences, theater performances, exhibitions, film screenings, and various private events.

There is a quota of rooms reserved for the participants in two of the city center hotels in Turku as well as a discount in two other hotel chains. We hope you find a suitable accommodation for your visit. Do make your reservation as soon as possible, since the city of Turku will be fully booked due to a number of different events in June 2025.
